Kondo resonance enhanced supercurrent in single wall carbon nanotube Josephson junctions

چکیده

We have contacted single wall carbon nanotubes grown by chemical vapor deposition to super-conducting Ti/Al/Ti electrodes. The device, we here report on is in the Kondo regime exhibiting a four-fold shell structure, where a clear signature of the superconducting electrodes is observed below the critical temperature. Multiple Andreev reflections are revealed by sub-gap structure and a narrow peak in the differential conductance around zero bias is seen depending on the shell filling. We interpret the peak as a proximity induced supercurrent and examine its interplay with Kondo resonances.

Charge and Spin Effects in Mesoscopic Josephson Junctions

We consider the charge and spin effects in low dimensional superconducting weak links. The first part of the review deals with the effects of electron-electron interaction in Superconductor/Luttinger liquid/Superconductor junctions. The experimental realization of this mesoscopic hybrid system can be the individual single wall carbon nanotube that bridges the gap between two bulk superconductor...

Single Wall Carbon Nanotube Weak Links

We have reproducibly contacted gated single wall carbon nanotubes (SWCNT) to su-perconducting leads based on niobium. The devices are identified to belong to two transparency regimes: The Coulomb blockade and the Kondo regime. Clear signature of the superconducting leads is observed in both regimes and in the Kondo regime a narrow zero bias peak interpreted as a proximity induced supercurrent p...

Chiral effects in normal and superconducting carbon nanotube-based nanostructures

The novel phenomenon of chiral tunneling in metallic single-wall carbon nanotubes is considered. It is induced by the interplay of electrostatic and pseudomagnetic effects in electron scattering in chiral nanotubes and is characterized by an oscillatory dependence of the electron transmission probability on the nanotube chiral angle and the strength of the scattering potential. The appearance o...

Even-odd effect in Andreev transport through a carbon nanotube quantum dot.

We have measured the current (I)-voltage (V) characteristics of a single-wall carbon nanotube quantum dot coupled to superconducting source and drain contacts in the intermediate coupling regime. Whereas the enhanced differential conductance dI/dV due to the Kondo resonance is observed in the normal state, this feature around zero-bias voltage is absent in the superconducting state. Nonetheless...

Carbon nanotube Josephson junctions with Nb contacts

We report on the preparation of carbon nanotube Josephson junctions using superconducting electrodes made of niobium. Gate-controllable supercurrents with values of up to 30 nA are induced by the proximity effect. The IV curves are hysteretic at low temperature and the corresponding switching histograms have a width of 0.5%–2%. An on-chip resistive environment integrated in the sample layout is...
